Among the many things that need to be done in our build project, one of them is to remove the existing ponds that sit within the decking.
Not only is this because the house is moving further out and the ponds will be in the wrong position (i.e. adjoining the new exterior brickwork), but because they are so dangerous with children. James in fact fell all the way down from the top pond into the bottom pond at the age of 2 years and ended up fully submerged!
We have such wonderful pond life in these ponds, from water lillies to algae, reeds to frogs and tadpoles. The last thing I would want to see is these destroyed or made homeless once the builders have removed the ponds.
So in a bid to save them, I decided to list them on my local Facebook community group and asked if anyone could help provide new homes.
The uptake was fantastic and I managed to find homes for all of the plants, frogs and even the 15 tadpoles. I was over the moon!
(The boys loved lending a hand to catch the tadpoles…)
So nice to look after the frogs! Glad they got a good home and the tadpoles too – great help from the boys!

Too bad you couldn’t keep the ponds – they look lovely! Glad you were able to find new homes for everyone!
It is amazingly easy to give away animals! My friend needed to downsize her chicken “farm” and got phone calls for weeks after all the birds were re-homed. Good on ya for taking care of the little froggers. =D
