Parties in Lockdown – The Party Pursuit

Whilst our social lives, travel plans and everyday life are on hold, celebrating the turning of another year, really shouldn’t. If your children have a birthday during the lockdown and you’re struggling to come up with ideas on how to celebrate, this guest blog post could be the one for you! Vicki, founder of The Party Pursuit (@thepartypursuit), an online boutique providing modern party goods for all occasions, is sharing her ideas on how to keep the little ones entertained for their birthdays in lockdown.

Hello, I’m Vicki, new first time mum and owner of online store, The Party Pursuit. Having worked as a menswear designer for almost 15 years I was looking to turn my hand to something a little more family friendly but that still allowed me to express my creativity. Of course I love a party (who doesn’t), but more than that I love the prep…decorating spaces and baking goodies is my thing!

The Party Pursuit is an online boutique providing modern party pieces. We offer a carefully curated selection of products that will add heaps of charm and personality to an event. Quality and style are so important and so we have worked hard to source, what we feel are the best products from some of the best brands around the world.

We know right now it can feel like our lives have been put on hold until further notice. We are living in uncertain times and with our special occasions being postponed for the foreseeable future, we can be forgiven for feeling that there is not much to celebrate. However, it is during such times that our wellbeing becomes a priority and so finding ways to fill our days with love and laughter is key.

Life goes on and if you have little ones with birthdays coming up then it is still so important for us to find new ways to celebrate these events. And even if there are no imminent celebrations, why wait for an excuse to throw a party (albeit on a small scale). Lets celebrate this unique time with our family, making precious memories and what better way to do that than to blow up some balloons, play music and eat cake!

Lets not forget that the fun doesn’t have to just come from the party itself. One of the big reasons we started The Party Pursuit was for our love of planning and prepping for a celebration. There are so many opportunities to get creative and to get the kids involved in the process. We’ve kicked you off with a few ideas below to keep the little ones entertained.

Sleepover / Pyjama Party

Granted a sleepover usually means at least some members of the party sleeping somewhere that is not their home. However these are not usual times and so a little thinking outside of the box is always a good idea.

Grab the duvets and let the little ones enjoy the spontaneity of spending the night in another room of the house.  Plan out your evening of family fun…board games, puzzles, a movie marathon or all of the above?

And why not make mealtime part of the fun by setting up a ‘build your own pizza’ station.

Garden Party

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have outside space but for those that do, the change of weather is a great opportunity to get out for some much needed fresh air and top up on vitamin d (don’t forget sunscreen!) And lets face it, we could do with a good excuse to get out of our loungewear so why not make the effort and dress up for the occasion.

Give some consideration as to the space you want to create – bunting, balloons, fairly lights and flowers all work well to glam up the garden table. Alternatively opt for a picnic vibe with blankets and scatter cushions.

Being outside is a great opportunity to take on some of the messier crafts or alternatively get everyone involved in a family sports day…egg and spoon race anyone?

Pamper Party

Since you can’t go to the spa, why not transform your home into your very own retreat – a great idea if you have any little ladies in your life.

Prepare the space in advance by setting up pamper stations including a nail bar, foot spa and facials (face masks and sliced cucumber!).

Wash and fold your dressing gowns, make up some cucumber infused water and search for spa relaxation music on spotify.

Why not also give homemade bath bombs a go, recipes for which can be found online.

Whilst not essential, all these ideas could be made that little bit more special with a few well-placed decorations, some party tableware or even the odd bit of dressing up. Our online store is open and we are offering 10% off all items with the code ‘HELLO10‘.

Vicki
