Minimalist in the Bedroom

Before I get too wrapped up in all the Christmas styling over the next few weeks, I thought I would share this home interiors post on how to create a minimalist, Scandinavian inspired, guest bedroom.

As you may remember, I also adopted this look for my home office. I just love the clean lines and clutter-free ethos of Scandinavian living which I think works so well for a home office where you want to free your mind to focus. For a guest bedroom, it provides the perfect backdrop for your visitors to feel relaxed and at ease within their surroundings.

The key to achieving a Scandinavian look is to keep things simple. Clean, light walls, uncomplicated design, a focus on form and function, varying textures and muted tones.

My top 10 tips for creating a Scandinavian home;

  1. Accessorise with warm textiles to keep your home feeling cosy
  2. Combine wood + metal finishes
  3. Bring the outside in by decorating with plants and fresh flowers
  4. Focus on neutral colours
  5. Keep your interior clutter-free
  6. Choose light coloured flooring
  7. Limit window treatments
  8. Mix up old and new
  9. Add a bit of personality with simple, bold accents
  10. Remember it’s all about form and function

    Lovely lovely space! Could I ask re bed, what mattress you’d recommend? It looks a good size but not too bulky. Many thanks

    Hi, I was wondering re the bed, if you went for an ottoman that you can separate into 2 singles if needing a twin room set up? It looks like it might be but then wondering what you’ve done re mattress? 2 singles or 1 king? Thank you! x

      The Sueno bed base can be separated if required but we won’t need to do this. x
